Although the rumored "iPhone 15" will not appear until the end of 2023, several references to this device are already emerging. Publicly filed patent applications, early supply chain rumors, and inferred features of Apple's overall product strategy can paint a reasonably clear picture of the future product.

Apple's naming conventions are not easy to predict, as the infamous "s" can appear in any year.Iphonelaunching. Apple named the device 2022iPhone 14, so we decided to call the 2023 model the "iPhone 15".

Alternatively, Apple could avoid the numbers altogether for years to come. The company's other product lines often change names to accommodate specific design changes or other changes, so the iPhone may see this at some point. Alternative name suggestions include "iPhone Pro" or "iPhone (2023)" to simplify names.

One rumor has it that Apple will drop the "Pro Max" name from its convention and switch to "Ultra" on its larger, higher-end model. Such a change wouldn't be unusual, especially now that the non-Pro 6.7-inch iPhone is called the "Plus."

Known rumors about the “iPhone 15”

Apple may have just announced the iPhone 14 andiphone 14 proLineups, but that doesn't stop the rumours. Supply chain sources and industry analysts continue to contribute new information about upcoming devices.

titanium curved edges

The bezel on the iPhone 15 Pro models may be titanium and features a rounded edge design similar to the MacBook Pro line. The rear edge would curve slightly when hitting the rear glass panel.

A titanium curved rim would look premium

The weight of the phone can be significantly reduced by changing the material from stainless steel. Apple may choose to polish the titanium and have it finish similar to the existing stainless steel trim.

Ende des Lightning-Ports

The iPhone may finally switch to USB-C after a decade of using the Lightning connector. This legacy connector replaced the 30-pin connector and offered innovative features such as a reversible connector and a denser package.

Some customers have asked Apple to switch to USB-C on the iPhone as the connector has become ubiquitous. On the other hand, the proliferation of Lightning connectors in Apple's product line complicates this change. The number of iPhone users with Lightning connectors on their iPhones,iPads, zAirPodsfar surpassesMacUsers with USB-C ports.

The iPhone 15 Ultra can finally get USB-C with Thunderbolt speeds

Apple is stuck in another lose-lose situation for its public relations team. As it was when it was removed from the 30-pin connector, it is subject to rigorous scrutiny by customers and regulators alike. Some venues have not yet completed the transition from the older connector, as gyms and other businesses still use equipment with 30-pin connectors. The same goes for a Lightning transition.

Supply chain analyst and sometimes leakerMing-Chi KuoHe shared that Apple could introduce USB-C to the iPhone in 2023. It's unclear if this is based on supply chain data or a leak, but he said he's been looking into it. Presumably the investigation would have been carried out by their supply chain consultants, but this is not known.

AirPods Pro 2 still uses Lightning

The European Union has passed legislation requiring smartphone manufacturers to adopt the USB-C connector as a common connector by 2024.

Rumors have previously suggested that Apple will remove all ports from its iPhone lineup in the near future and that USB-C will never come to the iPhone. These rumors did not materialize and it seems that USB-C will be introduced in 2023.

As of late 2022, Apple is still releasing products with a Lightning port. The newest oneAirPods Pro 2they're still using the port, despite rumors that Apple will move away from it in less than a year. the updatedSiri Remoteswitched to USB-C, a sign of the upcoming transition.

Apple is rumored to be adding Thunderbolt capabilities to the iPhone 15 Pro. This would allow for fast transfer of large files like ProRes videos.

no door

Since its inception, a physical connector for transmitting power and data has been an integral part of portable electronics. Despite this, Apple may abandon the physical connection in favor of alternatives such asMagSafeCharging, Qi charging, wireless data transfer and smart connections.

Apple Pod Remover para Porta Lightning sin 'iPhone 15'

There aren't many obvious reasons why Apple might want to do without a physical jack, but as with the previous headphone jack, the company may be looking for more internal space for components. While a USB-C port might be waterproof, the lack of a plug would ensure better water integrity.

For Apple to get a portless iPhone, it first has to offer users suitable alternatives. The connector is currently used for many accessories, from SD card dongles to music recording devices. It's unlikely that Apple will completely remove this important feature from the iPhone, although customers may have to pay for a new adapter.

Even Apple itselfCarPlayuses the physical port to connect. Unfortunately, most modern vehicles do not come standard with wireless CarPlay. So Apple has to take care of these customers again. An obvious half-step solution, as in some, would be to include a smart magnetic connectoriPadmodels

MagSafe may provide a data connection in the future

Rumors of a smart connector for the iPhone have been circulating since it was first released.iPad Proin 2015. While the three-pin connection supports some data transfers, it is not suitable for large files or information streams.

Apple's MagSafe accessory system for the iPhone is another possible solution. While the current iteration only supports power transfer on the iPhone 13, a future version could include some data transfer elements.

Of course, Apple may decide to ditch the legacy use cases and release its various iPhone models, which still feature the Lightning connector, for older customers. Alternatively up to 2023 Bluetooth accessories, air game, wireless data transfer and other tools can be advanced enough to eliminate a physical connector. However, there will always be a group that will be affected by such a move, such as developers.

Return of Touch ID

touch idwas replaced byface identificationWhen Apple released theiPhoneX. The reason for the change was to allow views on all screens without the home button taking center stage. Apple also said that Face ID is much more secure than Touch ID, with a million chances of a false positive unlock.

There are rumors that an in-display fingerprint sensor is coming to the iPhone 2023

It wasn't a problem-free solution, though, as Face ID needed to see the user's eyes, nose, and mouth to unlock the device. This solved the problem of trying to unlock an iPhone with dirty fingers, but now users couldn't easily unlock their phones if they covered their faces for some reason.

When the pandemic hit, it caused an unprecedented problem with Face ID as iPhone users around the world were wearing masks. Users complained about the now stalled unlock process, urging Apple to bring Touch ID back as a solution.

Instead, Apple offered a dealapple watchowner. If Face ID detects that the user is wearing a mask, it verifies that the Apple Watch has been authenticated and unlocks the iPhone. Of course, this solution only applies to Apple Watch users, a much smaller population than iPhone users.

Apple has announced a new version of Touch ID for theiPad area 4, and later themini iPad 6, which moved Touch ID to the power button. This fueled speculation that Apple would indeed add Touch ID to the iPhone 13's power button, but to no avail.

Rumors and patents show that Apple has been working on a Touch ID fix for the iPhone, but not the power button. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple will roll out Touch ID under the screen by 2023. The technology was originally intended for the iPhone 14, but was delayed for the "iPhone 15."

Android devices have been using under-display fingerprint readers since at least 2018 with some success. But just like with the 120Hz display refresh, Apple likely wants the technology to be perfected before rolling it out to its smartphone.

If Apple brings Touch ID back to its premium iPhone lineup, it could arrive as early as 2022, though Kuo says it's expected in 2023.

periscope camera

A new camera system on the "iPhone 15" can be used to enable more optical zoom. The iPhone could have a much longer zoom with a folding camera system inside the device to create more space between the lens and the sensor. It's unclear if this would replace Apple's existing telephoto lens or add a fourth lens with this capability.

The periscope lens of the Samsung S21 Ultra

While the iPhone 14 Pro can zoom to 3x, which is a 77mm equivalent, that's not a very far zoom. The 77mm focal length is great for portraits or getting up close to a relatively close subject, but still falls short for wildlife or sporting event photography. These situations require much longer lenses to capture the subject.

Samsung uses periscope and algorithms to enable sharp capture of subjects at 100x magnification. This is possible thanks to the long lens hidden in the body of the phone. Apple has been testing this lens for future iPhones, but it's unclear if or when it will be rolled out.

Like on-screen Touch ID, Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that this technology would appear on the "iPhone 14," but he changed that prediction to the iPhone 2023. This technology requires space inside a device to work, so other features that they save space, such as how to remove the lightning port, match your launch.

Kuo published another report in December 2021, in which he reiterated that the "iPhone 15" could have a periscope lens system. It's unclear if this is an update to the existing telephoto lens or if it will be added as a new fourth lens.

According to supply chain reports released in April 2022, several manufacturers have been contracted to produce the components required for a periscope camera system. The components are said to have been ordered for use in the "iPhone 15".

Módem Apple 5G

Apple's troubled history with modems led the company to build one of its own. When Intel got out of the modem business, Apple bought them.

Meanwhile, Apple used Qualcomm to deliver 5G modems for the iPhone. This partnership might be short-lived, however, as Apple is expected to roll out its modems in 2023.

Apple likes to control your device experience from the top down, and including the modem in that stack can benefit the user. Not only will it be cheaper to use internal modems, but Apple will be better able to integrate modem technology into its ownapple silicon.

"iPhone 15 plegable"

The foldable market is new and still faces many technological problems. From crumpled screens to poorly optimized software, we're still in the early stages. Apple only enters a market when it can guarantee the quality that the company proudly advertises.

The iPhone Fold could be announced in 2023

one"iPhone plegable“It could launch in 2023 as an ultra-premium in the “iPhone 15” series. It would be Apple's most expensive iPhone to date and is expected to cost around $1,500 for the base model.

The patents show that Apple has worked hard to develop special technology for foldable devices. They range from new hinge technology to folding batteries and folding screens.

Little is known about Apple's plans for the foldable iPhone, or if it will ever see the light of day. Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple will launch the device in 2023.

Dynamic island for everyone

With the arrival of the iPhone 14, it's easier to predict the trajectory of the iPhone 2023 lineup. Apple hasn't opted for a redesign on its latest models, instead the display technology has been updated and the cameras have gotten bigger.

Dynamic Island turns the Face ID sensor box into an interactive UI element

A big difference in the iPhone 14 Pro models is Dynamic Island. The notch was replaced with a pickup sensor housing and a hole punch in the viewfinder. Instead of displaying these separate elements, Apple connected them with a piece of software called Dynamic Island.

The feature is exclusive to the Pro models for now, but rumors suggest that Apple will remove the notch entirely on the "iPhone 15" lineup. That would mean that all iPhones in 2023 would get Dynamic Island.

There may be more to cover Dynamic Island in the updated iPhone. Rumors have suggested that one model could have dual selfie cameras, though the use case is unknown.

Two selfie cameras could provide enhanced portrait-format photos

Dual selfie cameras can be a problem for Dynamic Island software, as smaller devices quickly run out of space to display app information on either side of the hardware. Apple could fit more sensors under the glass and make the body smaller to allow two cameras to fit together, but it's not yet clear if that's its approach.

Price and release date of the "iPhone 15"

Predicting the price of a device that will appear in the future isn't exactly a science, but looking at Apple's price history may give you a clue. Apple hasn't deviated from its usual pricing structure for the iPhone 14, and as long as the economy doesn't change dramatically, it could do the same in 2023.

Apple could introduce a new 2TB storage tier for the iPhone to free up space for its increasingly sophisticated features like ProRes video. That could bring the price of an iPhone dangerously close to $2,000. Also, the "iPhone 15 Fold" would be sold as an ultra-premium model and was expected to cost around $1499.

Apple is expected to announce its iPhone 15 lineup in September 2023.
